About Me

My name is Kevin Horek and I was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I work as a Senior UX Designer / Front-End Developer. I am 30 years old and have been doing design and front-end development for over 13 years. I build websites/apps that are standards compliant, work cross-browser, are responsive and gracefully downgrade. My latest passion has been designing and developing mobile apps for Android and IOS.

Senior Designer / Front-End Developer
March 2011 - Present

My role is design and front-end development of this Ruby on Rails web application. This includes: wireframing, Photoshop mockups, building the mockups with HTML5/CSS3 (using SASS and the Foundation 3 Responsive Framework) and user testing. I make sure everything works cross-browser and across devices. Other than some of the icons and avatars, everything is HTML5, CSS3 or SVG.

Mailout Interactive Inc.

Senior Designer / Front-End Developer
April 2010 - January 2012

My role was to modernizing the three .NET web apps. This includes: taking out the tables and putting the 360+ pages into HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript, all pages gracefully downgraded to IE6. I was also responsible for making the apps more user friendly.

I also, did a bit of print and logo design.
